How a Military Mom Keeps Her Loved Ones Close
FOREVER has impacted my memory-keeping journey from the time my own children were born and it continues with my grandchildren. It helps me keep my loved ones visually close (and always close to my heart) as they serve in the military.
Military families sacrifice so much. It is not only the service member who serves - the whole family serves. Recording the twenty years of service for me, my husband, and our two sons has become very important to me as a mother.
My two sons attended separate military academies. The oldest met his wife in his second year there and they were married the year she graduated. One year later, my youngest son graduated he met his wife. She also graduated from a military academy, and they were married last fall. I used FOREVER's printing service to print my sons' graduate portraits (using 16 x 20 canvas wrap).
I have added my daughters-in-laws' portraits to my wall as well; it is so nice to have a nearly life-size photo of them all at home. I get a lot of wonderful compliments.
Both my sons are now growing their families. As is normal for military families, there are often many miles of separation between my sons' families and my husband and I. In light of this, I started a tradition when our first grandchild was born. I will create a photo book for each grandchild of the times we are together so they will be able to look back and know that we (their grandparents) were a part of their lives when they were too young to remember.
For the first book, I used the theme “We love you a bushel and a peck.” The cover is an animated forest scene with a photo of me and my grandson. The rest of the book was very easy: I inserted pages containing one photo each of me and my husband with our grandchild. It's an 8 x 8 book, so I used an 8-inch wide photo for each page and added simple journaling alongside or underneath each photo. At the end of the book, I made a page reminding my grandson how much we love him.
I had to share this story because I love my photo books so much and because FOREVER provides such high-quality printing. It makes my time and effort well worth the memories I preserve with FOREVER!
